My Day Off

Well, my day off consisted of working for 10 hours.  I filled in for another pool manager who is pretty sick this week. It really wasn't a bad day, it wasn't terribly hot and honestly, I didn't have ANY plans so, 10 hours of pay? Dont mind if I did! The only bummer was since it isn't my normal pool, I was a little out of my element, but the lifeguards were super nice and welcoming. The drive also made me incredibly thankful for my normal 3 minute commute.

I got a call today from one of my oldest and best friends to tell me that she is in town this week! Since I work all.the.time, she is going to come visit me at work and bring lunch tomorrow! I am more excited to go to work tomorrow then is really acceptable. Havent seen her since december so this visit it LONG overdue. Ellen also used to work at the pool with me so she said she didn't mind meeting me there. Haha. Hopefully we have time to squeeze in a real date sometime this week while she is home! But for now I will hold onto my lunch-at-work date because when your catching up with an old friend? Location and timing just doesn't matter. Going to bed with a smile on my face- hope you are too!

"Coming soon", a dress and cheesecake!

Now that I'm trying to vevamp this blog I want to introduce my readers to my life.

I am going to do a series of posts introducing the people, places and things that make up my amazing life. I want you all to know my friends, family- where and what I do while filling up my free time.

While I leave you on the edge of your seat waiting for those upcoming posts, Im going to show the most new addition to my closet!

In love. :)

I found this dress at White House, Black Market the other day but couldn't find it in my size. My lovely mother was out and about and ran into another location and VOILIA! Its all mine. I am literally making up plans to go out somewhere just so I can wear this.  And of course, I will accessorize with my favorite pearls.

This week is going to be crazy busy with an insane schedule at work. Im helping out a work friend at another pool, who has mono and needed some coverage. So between private swim lessons, babysitting and working two pools- no days off for me. Already looking forward to the paycheck.

If I find anytime this week (doubtful) Im gong to make this for dessert some day. Prepare for a mouth watering reaction.

Yeah, that would be Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Devil's Food Cake, Cheesecake

Well, thats all for now, off to work!

Back in the saddle!

Hello there, favorites!

Claire here! So obviously I abandoned this little slice of the web for quite some time. But as I quickly approach my senior year, and the culmination of my college career I decided to return to this blog and try to revamp it a little. I made up a new title, while at work today, and of course the new title had to include my favorite, trusty accessory! :)

My bestie, Chels is blogging now too so I'm excited to have an IRL and bloggy bud. We need to get our other third, Adrianna to join us here too, but the three of us might be too much for the internet to handle!

Today was HOTTT here in the DC metro area- 106 with a heat index making it feel like 114 at one point today. YIKES. Of course, I'm a lifeguard/pool manager and I got to spend my entire day in this blazing heat. I may or may not have eaten three popsicles, oh & an ice cream sandwich. Just saying, you gotta do what you gotta do to stay cool!

OK, this is all for now, but SERIOUSLY go check out Chelsey at http://chemistturnednurse.blogspot.com/
Oh and I helped her pick her new URL. Im awesome. =)

Photo Challenge. Challenge

So the next day of the Photo challenge is "a picture of something you wish you could forget"  After A LOT of thought I came to the realization that there really isn't anything I would like to forget. All of my life experiences, the good- the bad- the ugly have made me who I am. It hasn't always been easy and I have learned plenty about what NOT to do, and about growing up. But I don't think I would be where I am today without every single mistake I have made. Even the sad times taught me something.

Through every trial I come out stronger and I know the trials are never going to be over. But here's the thing, you can't have the sweet without the bitter. I wouldn't know how good life is, if I didn't know how sad and hard it can be. Loosing someone makes you all the more thankful for the ones you have, failing at something makes succeeding so much better, and working really hard, for a long time makes the accomplishment just that much bigger.

If I forgot all the bad times, the tears and pain- I wouldn't be as thankful as I am for what I have and what I have accomplished so far. I am going to post a video to a new(ish) country song that really sums this all up!

Photo Challenge #20

I would LOVE to travel to Australia sometime during my lifetime. I studied abroad in England during my fall 2009 semester and it was the best experience of my life.

I believe that travel is the best form of education and have so many places I have left I want to see. I also have so many places still to go within the U.S, because I think too many people overlook the beautiful experiences to be had here within the States. So a second place I would love to travel is :

ALASKA- I hear it is beautiful & I love the outdoors, Alaska is right at the top of my list of places to visit. I also don't mind the cold at all!!

A picture of my biggest insecurity

This was a really hard one for me. I have definitely had plenty of moments when I am insecure about myself, but it was hard to pick one thing. Physically I am a girl, so I would LOVE smaller thighs and a different pant size, but I think this insecurity is more important:

my ability as a teacher. I am currently still in school, but luckily my university has a lot of fieldwork in the classroom as part of our curriculum. I am very insecure that I am not going to be a good teacher, or that I am not ready to be in the classroom yet. I know how hard high school can be and I just can't wait to teach, and my goal is to overcome this insecurity to be the best I can be!

Something that has impacted my life recently

Not Peter Pan, but RUNNING!  This picture is from my recent trip to Disney, where I ran a Half Marathon with my sisters. It was a fantastic trip and I really enjoyed training for the race and finishing. It was a HUGE accomplishment, and I am so happy we did it. I am for sure hooked on races and am hoping to run another half in September here in Philadelphia. I will post more pictures from the trip as soon as I get them on my computer, but I stole this from the website :)
